Excellent text, highly recommended for conducting participatory research.
This is an excellent book which I have used to teach both undergraduate and postgraduate studies. This is one of the best books to use in teaching Research with Children and Young people. It addresses ethical issues that no other book addresses effectively.
To do excellent participatory research, especially with children, is always a great challenge. The experienced authors of this book wrote a great resource to guide researchers through the challenges and complexities of this type of research. The excellent case studies and much practical advice is very valuable, especially for unexperienced researchers. It also creates an awareness of all the ethical issues involved in doing research with children. Reading this book will empower students to undertake participatory research with children with the necessary confidence.
This is a useful text however it did not give the level of information I required.
Excellent book for students engaging in research. Clear and concise information provided for the reader.
Explains a clear format for students working on participatory research. An excellent resource for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
An excellent resource which gives clear insight into the demands and challenges of research involving this niche population group. The case studies bring the issues to life, allowing the reader to contextualise the issue in more depth
This provides a context for students who are considering research options. For example, it discusses ethical and power relations implicit with working with young people.
This book is also relevant for developing students awareness of involving children and young people in the evaluation of practice
Chapter 6 on Innovative Methods is particularly useful for trainee teachers undertaking action research who wish to engage with the student voice but find it difficult to gauge how to do this
Easily accessible style
A sound text for all those considering participatory research with children and young people
