A good resource for those teaching or assisting with science in the National Curriculum. I particularly liked the links to outdoor education and primary science.
A comparatively slim book which is easy to dip in and out of. This book is a very useful as a reflective teaching tool for any primary practioner or subject leader. Although the book is called ‘Creative teaching in primary science’, it picks up some really key issues of the moment such as sustainability, outside learning and health and well-being. This book is mainly theoretical with relevant research and further reading at the end of every chapter along with some very practical web links to resources that would be helpful in the classroom or to develop whole school policies.
the book is bitty and therefore only a few sections are being selected for reading by students.
This was a very interesting read which provides for teachers a good overview of creativity in the primary setting.
This was an easy to read text that combined theory and practice. The ideas for creative teaching proposed by the authors were relevant and easy to apply.
A useful book for students hoping to embark on an initial teacher training course.
This is an excellent book for the PGCE primary science course which is up to date and current yet supports our creative agenda. Please can it be made available as an e-book?
More Suited to Initial Teacher Training but a wonderful book regardless
Very readable, very practical and much needed. I found Chapter 10, Sustainability and Primary Science and Chapter 11, Teaching Science outside the classroom, particularly relevant to my course. Also Chapter 12, The Science of Health and Wellbeing, very useful. Overall a delightful book on teaching science.
I would recommend this book because it provides many ideas and with clear easy directions and examples to foster creativy in Primary Science. It fills a very important gap in currently available resources on Primary Science, because the activities in this book go beyong the standard resources one can find in other books.
Very useful text for specialism projects.
