This is an easy to read yet incredibly detailed account of the issues facing children and adolescents exposed to the ever-changing world of media and technology. Both classic and more contemporary research is included to support the topics explored. The exercises at the end of each chapter are thought provoking and useful for group discussion tasks to introduce each topic. An excellent text.
Very relevant and up to date research. It is suitable at both undergraduate and postgraduate level which is one of my main reasons for adopting this book. I also enjoyed the relevance from early years to adolescence.
An excellent resource for research of modern childhood. This book covers every aspect of the media influence that affect children and adolescence behaviour and development in modern society.
This is a very informative book and will provide good support to the course
This has been a vital text for teaching on the 'Young Person in Focus' module, part of BA programme. It is very useful for undergraduate students as it is an accessible book, well written and laid out.
It explores a number of topics and issues which are relevant to understanding the world of young people.
This book covers an array of excellent topics relating to the Media and the impact they have on children and adolescents.
A good resource.
The course for which this textbook is designed has been pushed back to 2017; unless this is one of the best texts that I have a valuated that focuses on children and the media. The challenge is a lot of assumptions and is greater than the sum of its parts.
A suitable text to cherry pick from in order to stimulate some interesting discussions and debates within the classroom. A number of students also found it useful in developing their thinking further around the subject matter.
Very very interesting. I continuously dip into this book. Great for my degree students due to the way that it presents up to date research and current society influences.
this is an excellent book with details descriptions and concepts.
